Meeting/Event Information

The Chapter meets the 2nd Wednesday of each month, exclusive of January. The cost is $25.00 for members and $35.00 for non-members for each meeting and includes dinner. A meeting notice is distributed, via e-mail, prior to each meeting. Past topics have included, but is not limited to, Friend of the Court, Wage and Hour Laws, Expatriates and Garnishments. Please join us for our July Meeting as our fellow Michigander and APA member from the East Side, Roger Smith, CPP will present "Good, Better, Best - Payroll Best Practices."  Roger has extensive training and experience in process improvement, strategic planning, payroll best pracices, business and information technology management, benchmarking, change management, quality management, sales and numerous technical areas. Please come and enjoy a fun filled evening and discover new practices you could put in place to enhance your payroll skills. 

About Roger Smith, CPP - Founder and President of PayrollProf.Com

Prior to founding Roger spent over 35 years in supporting Payroll and Human Resource technology and business processes.  

As a longtime member, Mr. Smith has been very active in the American Payroll Association (APA). He has presented workshops at the APA's Annual Congress, Payroll Leadership Conferences, numerous Statewide Payroll Conferences and Chapter meetings, and has also presented payroll-related workshops to other groups.

He currently serves as APA Vice-President, chairs the Emerging Technologies Committee of the Strategic Payroll Leadership Task Force and is a member of the Board of Contributing Writers for Membership Publications. In 1990 he received the APA's Meritorious Service Award and in 1997 he received APA’s Special Recognition Award. In 2001, Roger was named the APA’s Payroll Man of the Year.

Mr. Smith is also active in the Detroit Chapter of the APA and has been active on the Statewide Planning Committee since it's inception.
